Central Committee
What is it?
The Democratic Central Committee (DCC) is the official representative of the Democratic Party in St. Mary's County. Seven people are elected to the committee during the Democratic Primary of a gubernatorial election year (2006, 2010, etc.), and one person is appointed.
What does it do?
The Committee
- seeks out and encourages potential Democratic candidates for political office and aids them in their campaigns
- offers training for Democrats who want to be more involved in civic affairs
- handles publicity for Democratic events
- coordinates get-out-the-vote drives and sponsors Democratic Precinct Captains
- works with the St. Mary's County Democratic Club and other Democratic Groups to sponsor events and social activities.
MEETINGS The Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 11:30 AM. (Usually at the Roost in Lexington Park, but please call 301-862-4430 to confirm the date and time.)
